JEM Consulting Solutions is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including those with disabilities. We continuously work to improve the user experience and apply the relevant accessibility standards. Our target is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

Our Commitment

As a veteran-owned small business, we recognize that accessibility is not a compliance checkbox - it is a core part of serving our clients and community. We integrate accessibility into our design, development, and content processes. Our goal is to provide an inclusive experience that respects the diverse ways people interact with the web.

Accessibility Features Implemented

Navigation and Keyboard Support

We have implemented a skip-to-content link at the top of every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repetitive navigation. All interactive elements are operable via keyboard alone, with visible focus indicators to ensure users can track their location as they tab through the site.

Screen Reader Compatibility

Our site is built with semantic HTML and ARIA attributes to provide meaningful context to assistive technologies. Headings are properly nested, landmarks are defined, and dynamic content changes are announced appropriately. We test with popular screen readers to maintain compatibility.

Forms and Labels

All form inputs have explicit, programmatically associated labels. Error messages are clear and linked to the relevant fields. Required fields are indicated both visually and via code.

Visual Design and Color Contrast

Our primary color is Navy (#0a1628) and our accent color is Gold (#c8a951). We use these colors on white or light backgrounds to maintain sufficient contrast ratios. Text and background combinations meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA requirements. We avoid relying solely on color to convey information.

Responsive Design

The site is fully responsive, scaling and reflowing content appropriately across devices and viewport sizes. Content remains readable and functional on mobile, tablet, and desktop without loss of information or functionality.

Motion and Theme Preferences

We respect the prefers-reduced-motion system setting, disabling non-essential animations for users who request it. The site also supports dark mode and other system theme preferences, adapting colors automatically based on the user's operating system or browser settings.

Typography

Users can switch to the OpenDyslexic font option, which is designed to improve readability for some readers with dyslexia. This option is available via a site-wide toggle and persists across pages.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full compliance, some areas may not yet meet all WCAG 2.1 AA standards:

• Third-party integrations: Some embedded tools, widgets, or external platforms may have limited accessibility. We encourage vendors to improve their products and will replace or supplement them when possible.
• PDF documents: Older PDFs may not be fully tagged or accessible. We are working to remediate existing documents and ensure new ones meet accessibility standards.

We are actively addressing these limitations and welcome feedback to help us prioritize improvements.
